Anyone Know Of A Modification To Get Rid Of "stutter" On The Boss Rv-3 Pedal?

hi...

i have a boss rv-3, and i like the delays, but there is a problem. when i kick on the pedal, there is a quick stutter...that is to say that it mutes my signal for a moment (it's really just a fraction of a second...but when you do it live, it sound terrible...like you accidentally unplugged your guitar for a moment, realized what happened, and plugged it back it as quickly as possible).

does anyone know of a modification that could take care of this problem? i don't want to have to buy a new pedal...any ideas?

I dont know of any mods but that is something to look out for anytime you buy gear for live use. Can you use it in the effects loop on your amp so it's not completely muting your signal?
 
There is no modification, I can't belive digital pedals still have this problem (10 years later). Or maybe I'm not surprised. That delay is inherent, unavoidable until these manufacturers get it together. I'd suggest 'guessing'/Anticipating' and hitting a milli-second before and on the beat( I tried). Either that or go back to responsive analog circuitry effect pedals. (better). In otherwords, there is no solution to your problem, play 'around' it or ditch it.

It is sad that these DSP units can't do any better than 200ms latency on their patch changes. There's really no excuse - guitar synths don't have this problem. I think they're convinced that people only use these for studio applications...
 
It's the same story with a lot of keyboard gear. EMU is one of the few keyboards that allows you to change patches while playing without a noticeable glitches.

Some tricks you can try are using another reverb or delay with it so you can switch back and forth to cover up the switches. If you use the amps preamp and the loop then you shouldnt cut off the entire signal and will just have to time it right.

Creative patch programming can help also.
