It's really good for ripping & file conversion - the above site has a 30 day demonstration limit. There are heaps of others, particularly the one Gorty mentions above, that are great & freeware. TRY a few & LISTEN to the results as some are better than others.

If you happen to use iTunes you can do it right in there.

there used to be a website that was like best-mp3-converter.com that had directions on how to make a perfect glitch free mp3 using exact audio copy and some crazy version of lame. i can't seem to find it now

I just noticed Nero 6 has a file converter as part of the suite. Have a look at your CD & DVD burning prog.
What a der brain I am for not having noticed or used this feature.
