Does anyone have any experience with the Barcus Berry 6100 Flute Electret Microphone (or any other B.B. mics) or the Barcus Berry 3000a preamp? I'm shopping around right now and want to find something for my flute that will give me the room to go from boomy, throaty kinds of sounds up to screaching shrills. I'm not sure whether I should go with this sort of set up or an external condenser or dynamic mic mounted on a stand. I also plan to experiment with signal processing (reverb, delay, chorus, etc) so whatever I get has to send an appropriate signal to that kind of processor.

Any guidance anyone?

Thanks!

Model 6100
Flute Electret Microphone

The model 6100 has been designed to deliver studio quality sound, yet is rugged enough to be practical for on stage use. It is totally moisture-proof, has excellent dynamic range and can provide a clean reproduction of the original sound in any acoustical environment. It is ideal for use with both analog an digital effects and is also the perfect choice for use with wireless transmitters. System includes 3000a preamp/power supply, headjoint cork, microphone and cable.
