Hi,

I'm currently looking at purchasing a soundcard that has 8 or more ins and outs and was interested in Echo Layla but its a bit out of my price range (i'm in Aus). I have been steered towards the Hoontek C-Port card which has similar features but no built in DSP. Firstly is this a good card and secondly will it cope using windoze, i'm so over latency and dropouts...

My compuer is 512meg Ram, 1 gig thunderbird and 7200rpm 20gig Hard drive.

Thanks for any advice you have to offer.

I just purchased a "C-Port" from www.tracertek.com for $415 plus $8 S&H. Unfortunately I cant give much first hand info, cause I haven't even hooked it up yet. My computer isn't finished yet.

I can tell you, it appears to be well built, solid construction. It was boxed well and arrived without a scratch.
Tracertek was quite prompt, it arrived in 3 or 4 working days.

At first glance the manual appears to be pretty good, but I haven't gone too deep yet.

Guitar Center was advertising them as "coming soon" but I don't know if they ever did.

I have also set my heart for the C-port.... now I am just waiting for enough money to get one! :)

Personally, I think it's worth every penny you spend....

Twist, I am anxious to heard stuff recorded with the C-port... have not heard anything from this BBS yet.... so far I know Ola has one too....

C'mon you C-port users, post something quick! :)

Way to go!

I just purchased the C-Port and i must say that im impressed at how good it is. Amazing how different it sounds from 16 bit to 24 bit! I felt as though the music had warmth and body, something previously lacking from digital recording that i noticed.

Anyone looking at purchasing a card for simultaneous recording of multiple tracks, check out staudio.com.

Fairly easy to set up and stable. There are a few gliches with drivers which are getting fixed in the latest driver updates but otherwise a very good card and awesome for our budgets.

Thanx to those who steered me in the RIGHT direction...
