anyone heard of HARBAL mastering software...??

Don't waste your money... the whole premise under which it's designed to work on is a joke. (it's the equivalent of saying, "I like the way that Steely Dan song sounds, so let me grab it's freq. spectrum and apply it to my own song to make it sound the same...")

I actually bought it once - although I returned it. It was the only way to try the "actual" program, as the demo limited you to using 8 bits.

It's an EQ. I know it's hyped as "Magic" or something, but it's an EQ. It was fairly easy to "band-aid" a crappy sounding mix with it, but on a mix that actually sounded good to begin with, I wasn't impressed.

The HairBall guys weren't impressed by me not being impressed, either - I found that unimpressive as well...

I feel it's good to see where are your mistakes. At a time I could pump up the volume, i got my track in har-bal and realised everything was on the lower frequencies and higher. So i got back to the original mix and re-eq some instruments to fit in the hole. Sounded much better after and I could compress much without hearing it working.

Maibe what I mean is it's kinda good on fighting tired ears.
