Anyone have this problem with Sonar 3.0?

When I open a project and get the master level set (0 is always too loud it seems, I usually have it down around -6 to stay mostly out of the red) I can save it, close the program, and when I open it back up, its back at 0 again. Pisses me off, every song does it.
Is there a fix. I have the 3.11 patch or whatever but I still havent gotten around to the install yet. DOes that fix it?
Thanks.

I didn't experience this in 3.0 and cannot replicate it under 3.1.1

Q.

Do you have any volume automation written on the main output bus?

Never. Always returns to zero when I open the song back up.

Does it happen to all projects or only one?

You could try inserting a volume envelope over the master bus. This may point you toward the problem,if not give you a temporary work around.

I get the same problem, I always have to turn down the output of my echo card in sonar of -6 db to stop hearing distortion.

I think it is my console that can't take the signal. I use a yamaha mt120 4 track recorder as my output device.

And no it won't stay at -6 even if I save the project. I always have to put it back down.

Same problem here. Now what are we going to do about it?

I still can't replicate this is any old files or new test files.

Have you tried backing up and deleting your template file, NORMAL.CWT or whatever - might be corruption of some sort in that.

Maybe it needs locking down, with an envelope.
Still it shouldn't need it.
(Secretly though, I figure cake is lust trying to get you to get your tracks down .. :):D

I'll be interested here to see if my little 'gain envelope' problems go away in S3.

I had the same problem with Sonar 2.0 but when I installed Sonar 2,.2 I didn't face it again. May be they will find a cure for this in Sonar 3.2 :D

Hey, same exact problem here. All projects are affected. Both 3.0 and 3.11. going through a Delta44 as the master out.

Still having it here, too.... anyone talked to cakewalk about it?

Is there some commonality in the cards that people are using when this error is popping up?

I am working correctly with Aardvark's Direct Pro 24/96.

Am I correct in thinking that is seems to be the M-Audio Delta cards with the issue?

I thought that might be, but upon re-reading the thread I noticed that lapieuvre is having the same problem and he is using an echo card.

I asked about this on cakewalk's forum but nobody responded to my thread.

Did you try this yet?
I've got a delta 66 and had a Delta 2496 on a different computer, both using WDM,and never had any of these problems.
It sounds to me to be a Cakewalk problem....

Its just not very possible that a soundcard is causing a track or master volume fader to reset, I cant see how that could be.

Its a cakewalk problem, but I dont know why some have it and some dont.

I'm using a delta 1010.

Audiophile 24/96 and WDM here. To add to the intrigue, I actually had an instance where it remembered the setting of the master channel after a save. I was suprised that it suddenly had worked. However, after working on the file, it did not save the setting the next time and since that time always opens at full volume.
