looking to get cake walk but dont want latency., is anyone having
luck w usb or any card to use internal effects, w no latency.
not sure what to buy. thanks

Basically you want a card with WDM-drivers, and high quality WDM-drivers. SB Live! and Audigy has WDM-drivers, but not high-quality ones...

There are several options, Delta 1010/44/66, Audiophile 2496, Audiotrak Maya 44... several.

I use a card called Audiotrak Inca88 which can give me 1.5 ms latency, but I run it stable at 4.4 ms. I can have a ton of tracks and effects. :)

About USB I'm not so shure....

Moskus:

I have been looking for a new card, and have been intrigued by the Inca due to it's EXTREMELY low cost.

Have you had good luck with it? Sound quality? Does the INCA have WDM drivers?

Thanks.

Bibleman, yes I'm happy with the card. It doesen't have 24bit/96kHz recording or playback, but it's a great card with great results (with the RMAA-test. I'll see if I find my results). The soundquality is what you would expect from a "high-quality" 16/44.1 soundcard, IMO. And yes it has WDM-drivers (and Asio-drivers). :) http://www.audiotrak.co.uk/products/inca88/index.shtml

James... the list is incomplete. The Inca88 is missing! :D

It's not accident :) ...I left the room for you to post it. :p

Anyway... I'm happy happy joy joy all the way with Delta-66 and the SBLive! They served my demand so well. No such latency disturbing...
