Anyone ever use recorded track live...

not talking about an Ashlee Simpson or Milli Vanilli deal here. Have you ever used a recorded track of something along with live playing? I want to record the synth part of "Baba O'Riley" from a GP4 (Guitar Pro) tab. I need to figure out how to do that if anyone has any ideas...maybe just put a mic in front of my computer speakers, but I would rather record direct if possible.

One night in Great Falls Montana the band I was in at the time (1988), just as a joke, lip synced to the opening song we had recorded the night before...including the intro.....I think it was You Got Another Thing Coming by Judas Priest....What I do remember is that the crowd didn't know the difference....
