Hello! Looking at buying 500' of Gepco cable for all-audio purposes (mic cables, split my audio snake, patch cables, etc.) and was wondering if anyone had used it or heard of it. It's available in a couple of colors and what not and seems pretty decent. I think it's designed for install use, but I'll be using it for everything... lol. The main reason I want it over Canare or Mogami or Belden or whatever, is because I can get 500' of Gepco for about $48 shipped, where as Canare costs about the same for 100'. Believe me, I'd do Canare or whatever else if I could afford it, but I can't... lol. I've got too much need and too few resources, but I thought I'd check here (and in this forum, feeling it's probably the most well suited place for this question) for the heck of it! Thanks!

Well, Canare and Mogami are top notch. No arguing that.

But if you can't afford, it you can't afford it and thats the end of the discussion.

Gepco is okay. Its not awful stuff at all, unless you're making huge runs, but to loop around the perimeter of a studio to tie patch bays to synth modules and stuff, its really okay cable.

Just make sure you use low-impedance cable for microphones, and low or high impedance cable for synths, drum triggers, outboards, etc. Using low impedance for everything isn't bad actually.

Heck, in a pinch, I even used 75ohm coax with phone plugs :)

Gepco is good cable. I personally use Mogami and Canare - but I wouldnt be upset if I only had Gepco. Gepco is no Hosa

Hey Brandon... this is Jim from Just William...

Gepco is decent stuff (regardless of what Frederic says ;) Hiya Frederic!!)

I used it to wire my patchbays and snakes and have no complaints.

Plus its CHEAP price wise even to buy it new.

I have 1000ft of the Green quad mic cable sitting in the garage right now.

Hi Velvet!

Did I say its bad stuff? Noooooooooooo. I just said its not the very best.

It does offer one of the best value for dollar, however.

Plus you have star-quad cable... thats a whole nudder ballgame :D

I know... I had just had to bug ya :)

I haven't bothered you for a while and I saw my chance.

You know how it goes.

BTW - Freddie... you know that cushy re-aligning the company job you had at home for a while?? I switched jobs and now work AT home :)

Bug away man, its entirely cool.

Very cool on the job... I'm *still* working from home. Not that I get anything done of course...

I have too many projects going... for sure...
