I've posted this before, but just did a quick re-mix to test out the new patchbays.

Lemme know what you think.

Thanks.
I like it. It's bass heavy, but I find it cool. It's not boomy, but has tons of low end. Drums seem to sound good here, and the dudes voice is clear. I hear no problems, but remember...I'm easy to please.... :D

Playing sounds good, but I seemed to have lost the bass. Midstage seem empty.

i'm not down with the guitar tone at all...sounds like computer tryed to do the distortion...
snare sounds lo fi

vox sound decent, maybe add a bit of reverb places in this mix?

It is an improvement from the last time i heard it.

I liked the addition on the 808 in the beginning too.

So what did you patch in with the patch bay?

(i went GS BTW, nice place, ill visit more :) )

Basically just ran everything out thru it to the board. Strapped a Vari-MU across the two buss, and used the rumour as a plug in instead of an aux send (cool new cubase trick).

I still don't like the vocal.

And, this is still all OLD stuff (the cd project that is almost a year old). I should have some new stuff (my new band) that is tracked with the Apogee's and the new pre's (Great River, and API) and the new Comps (Distressor, Manley Vari-Mu). It will make it REALLY clear how bad I suck - LOL! :D

Ok, so whats the deal with the distressor?

Whats the signifigance, ive never used one but im dyin to try, tell me about it.

API's? tell me you got 3124's :o

You know, I haven't had a chance to REALLY use it yet. I just got it, and had a major meltdown when I went to rewire my studio. Long twisted story, but I finally am back up fully TODAY. I did use it on my bass, and was thouroughly unimpressed at first, but I hit the Dist 2 button, and BAM. Loved what it did. Not really sure if I am going to keep it or not. I need to run the Vocals from the group that recorded the song above. I hope it will do what I expect on his Vox and Guitar (that's what I bought it for mainly). Also want to try it on our new singer/guitar player as well. The scratch stuff we have been doing sounds WAY better than the stuff I have put up here.

The API is a 3124!

Now I just neeed a good EQ..........

:D :D :D :D :D

Good mix. You know, I'm not big on the growls but I'll listen to any song in the genre without the growls. :)

I would like to hear a little more snare. Just a tad. Maybe a db or so.

I like the grinding bass stops. I don't know how else to explain it. :) It happens at 00:10 for the first time when the music stops. :)

Overall sounds a little dry. I don't know what it is. Can't place my finger on it. Sounded to me like it need a little air. And a little wetness on either reverb or chorus somewhere. :)

Good drummin'. The dude has screams! :D

Sounds like a good mix too me.

At about 2:19 and on I love the Bass!!

Damn! I can't hear bass here! (Wait! That might explain something....)

I liked it! :)

I don't know a whole lot about mixing and what-not, but I thought the song was pretty good. Real grindy. I think you did good man :D

Guitar tone...

Its a fanastic mix to my ears. The only thing that sounds slightly off is the guitar tone. Sounds a bit harsh and digital - did you use any amp/speaker simulation because it just sounds like you ran the guitar in and then applied the distortion straight. It almost works, perhaps it does, but the warmth that you'd normally associate with a real crunch sound is rather lacking :-)

Levels seem pretty good here. everything seems pretty even. I can hear lows, and highs. Seems pretty full. For whatever reason, vocals seem to sit better now. What did you do? They just seem to have a pocket.
On my system, the music seems very even. Cranked, or quiet, it sounds very good. Personally, I think you are finishing this. Seems to me, it is mixed very well, and now just needs some minor tweaking to polish it. Listened a few times, and can't really find much for flaws. Seems to sound good even after a few listens. Cool tune.
