This amp was given to me by a generous friend.

I cant find much information about it other than I think its a Gibson amp.
It says CMI Electronics EL Monte, Calif on the back

I went and put in some NOS Westinghouse 8417's and it sounds pretty nice... esp. the phase effects on it.

Well... if anybody could give me some information on this.. that would be great!

the most important thing would prob be how many ohms the output stage is at... hopefully its at 8 ohms .. so i dont have to rewire my cab.

oh... i just found the date label on the inside its an sg100g built in sept 1974... wow.. older than me :)

heres the pics i took:

From what I read there @ H/C, your amp was made by the company that bought out Standel.
Standel made amps that were used by some famous players like Merle Travis and Wes Montgomery, to name a few.

Here's a really good bio on Standel and their acquisition by CMI (Chicago Musical Instruments).

I had a Standel amp back in the early 80's.
Actually, I recall that it said "Standel" on one side of the head and "Acoustic" on the other. I'm kind of perplexed because Standel and Acoustic were two different companies. But I'm sure it had both names on it. I figured that "Acoustic" was just the model of the Standel amp, but I can't find any info about it.
It was a solid state Standel head with a 4-12 Standel bottom.
Anyway, as I was browsing around I came across a site with a post from Harvey Gerst. It's pretty interesting (and very short) but it gives you an idea of just how much Harvey was involved with some of the biggest names in Rock history back in the day.

Check it out!

Looks like one of those Maestro (SP Mystro) deals?
Dont remember if that was the company or the model.??

I checked it out and Maestro, (correct spelling) was made by gibson but I couldnt find a picture of one but that one looks just like a Maestro.

some great info... buck!

That is really an interesting history

Yeah... were extremly lucky to have a person like mr. Gerst helping people out around here.

The only problem is the price of the 8417 tubes are expensive, because they dont make them anymore.. i picked up a the set of NOS Westinghouse tubes from antique electric supply for over $100 for 2, but it really is about the same price as getting a quad set of groovetubes for my marshall.

thanks again buck ... i feel like i know a little history on a lost relative now :)

I don't know about when the amp was built, but Gibson's current headquarters are in Nashville
