I'm just wondering if anybody has published a song on iTunes or some similar website that actually had people buy the song?

Even if you only made $20? ;)

thanks

Yep my album (link below) is on iTunes, I did make a sale in Australia back in March. Haven't got a second quarter report yet, probably not for another month or two.

Very cool!. I'll give it a listen when I get home.

What steps did you take to get it where it is? iTunes?

thanks

I put my album up on CD Baby. In addition to selling through them, they also put it up through a whole slew of other digital providers (providing you want them to), such as Lala (which I heard is going down), Amazon, iTunes, etc. etc. Its $35 a CD, or $9 for singles, and you get on all those marketplaces.

Of course, you still have to promote your music, they won't do it for you, but at least you get it up there.

I figured I'd throw my stuff out there through Tunecore.com onto itunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, Napster etc.

My reasoning was if people are crazy enough to pay 99 cents for a coin flip phone app (4 times the value of the picture of the quarter being flipped:laughings:) someone might be crazy enough to buy one of my songs.

In the end I sold a few downloads on itunes and amazon (US & Mexico), several physical CDs (US & UK) through amazon CD on demand and numerous streaming on Napster and Rhapsody. (US, Ukraine, Czech Repbublic and UK)

I covered my cost of the digital disribution, with enough left over for some airplay on jango.com, a couple of phone apps and a big mac or two :)

Now I can legitimately claim to be a worldwide selling recording artist:eek:
