I remember Sjoko singing the praises of another one of their products, the Hotplate.

The Univalve amp is priced at £800 sterling and I haven't got a price on the cabinet yet but am expecting one today.

I've been getting sick of finding out alot of gear that has been bought with hard-earned gig money a few years back does not really cut it, and am starting to subscibe to the buy cheap - buy twice viewpoint expressed by several people on this BBS.

I am travelling quite a bit to get some gear at good prices fairly soon, and will try out this amp (amongst others) then. Their seems to be very little user comments and reviews to be found on this amp though, which is why I am posting this.

Has anybody got one ? Got any opinions ? Reliability ? Support ? Comparisons to similarly priced units ?

I haven't played through one yet, although I think it sounds like a really cool amp. Nobody around here that I know of even has one in stock. The coolest thing is that the Univalve is self-biasing so you can swap out the power tube and the two preamp tubes for anything you want and get completely different tone from the same amp. I did read a review (although I can't remember where now) about the cabinet. They said something to the effect that it improved the sound of every amp they tried to play through it. I'm actually thinking about getting one to play my Rivera head through, then get the head down the road a little for a studio amp - although I have to find someone that carries them first.
