anybody ever heard of a porta 07?

Hi,
i recently bought a porta 07 ministudio, i searched the web for some information about it, but it doesn't seem to exist!
I really want to know if i bought something decent. Also the re is a "sub in" entrance in the back. What can i use this for?
 
That deck sold for over 500.00 in musicians friend in the fall of 1996.I would guess that's it's a nice portable 4 track.Tascam makes great gear,How much did you pay for it?
 
I've got one and it's quieter than my 424!
Haven't got it in front of me- but the pair of RCA jacks in the rear left corner allow you to bring in a stereo pair from another line level source. The only control you have over this signal is at the master outs. I used this input to mix my synth output with other sources.
 
I paid Fl. 250,- for it that's about $125,- so i got it very cheap. Is it possible to plug in the output of my computer souncard on the sub- in?
 
If you use the Line Out from your soundcard- sure. A speaker out connection is going to be too high a level but you can 'make' it work.
BTW- that's a helluva deal for this deck....
 
how can i 'make' that work? As you can see i'm a total dumbass as it comes to homerecording

Yup- Dragon already covered this one.
His rap is directed at going into the soundcard, not out, but the principle is the same.
If it was me- I'd get a soundcard with a line out and not use the speaker out for anything but computer speakers.
 
Sounds to me that this is a case of how do we sell a great 4 track at a lower price level to more people.The fact that yours Doc is quieter than your 424 tells me outside of a few options,3 speed being one,That this is a quality porta and a much overlooked umit that is currently selling less used than a much less veratile Porta 02. 125.00 sounds good to me
