any way to monitor incoming signal as its recorded to my hard drive ?

is there any way to monitor the incoming signal immediately after its recorded. i remember in the old days this problem was solved on the analog decks with a third head and the signal was monitored immediately after it went on to tape. my sound card is creative sb audigy plat. i have my mixer recording control setting at “analog mix” on this card. other mtr software installed :
n tracks, power tracks, and band in a box.
