I have the 840GX. I bought a scsi card for it a week or so ago.
What I read in the owners manual about installing it sounds pretty easy, but I've read stuff like that before. Like where when ya get half way in to the project, something goes wrong.
Has anyone else installed the scsi card in their 840GX?
Did you run into any problems? If so, what were they and how did you fix it?
I'm a bit nervous about this, but the book makes it look so easy.
Am I making a big deal over nothing? Is it as easy as the manual says it is?
Thanx IA. (in advance)

Yeah, it's easy...

...from what I hear. Simple as two screw, plug in a connector, and replace two screws. I don't have one in my VS 840, but I know lots of guys who do at vsplanet.com.

You may have to initialize the drive or something, I don't know, but it doesn't seem to be a big deal if you got the upgrade from Roland, there should be no problem. If not, make sure you have the right connections.

Stop worrying, it's not a very big deal.

wawazzat?
Hope this heaps help

Thanks Wawazzat.
It looks very simple to install. Like sound cards and stuff in computers. I was just wondering if the lights would go out on the west coast when I plug it in. :)

I finally found some time to install my scsi card.
I opened the box and found the card, cable, manual and something else.
It's black, has a hinge in the middle so it can be folded and then there are clamps on the outside to lock it. It has a hollow area running through the middle, like it fits on a cable or something. In my scsi card manual, nothing is said about this.
In my VS840ex manual or the VS840GX supplemental manual nothing is said about it either.
When this black piece is laid open, it has some metal clips holding some sort of metal, I'm guessing aluminum because its so light, that appears to hold what ever it goes around snugly.

Anyone have any idea what that is? Where I'm suppose to put it? What it does? Like I said, there is no mention of it that I can find in any of the manuals.
Thanks.
