I was wondering what kind of mild collor/overdrive tones this one might be good for on bass DI duties. The price is nice, but seen some posts that indicate it might be a bit noisy?

Sansamp is an excellent DI for bass offering a mid-rangy coloration suitable for rock-bass perfs along with a hyped edginess in the upper range.
For Rock, the Sansamp rules. S/N ratio can be contained by running it thru an RNC w/o losing desired flavor or color.
My genre of moo-zik is Jazz/Funk, R&B & Free-Flow Old Skool Jammination(think James Brown meets the Brecker Bros,AWB,Jeff Golub,Clapton & Rare Earth!

)
I'm heavy on syncopated riffing & thumb-slappin' where I require DI's that boost & provide clarity in the upper-mids with a sort of percussive-like definition. Besides the Sans, I own a ProCo DB70; your basic DI for bass that provides adequate line-levelling duties; an Aphex Bass Exciter that gives you the option to blend low freqy's nicely in conjunction with upper-end range during thumb-slapping (along with a "gain-cut" switch for active p/u's), and the Aguilar Bass pre, which is straight up a total beast! Absolutley incredible device that seemingly captures whatever your particular perf/style and translates exactly what you just did!
So what the EFF was my reason for shooting off 'bout other DI's that you did not inquire about? Nothin' but to say that besides being a gear junkie, most quality bass DI's bring that certain sumthin'-sumthin' to the table. It's up to you to determine what best suits you.
