According to the Air Force "the B-1 is the backbone of America's long-range bomber force providing massive and rapid delivery of precision and non-precision weapons against any potential adversary anywhere around the globe on short notice".

Any B1 Users out there?

Has any used one of these microphones? I am seriously looking into my next purchase. I am debating the C1 or the B1. I mean at $79.95 street price! Would the C1 at $229 be a better buy?

Thanks,
Daniel

not if your cheap. im broke so went for the cheapest decent mic i thought i could get and B-1 got the prize. im sure i wont compare to the c-1 but if money is an issue...the b-1 is a great mic.

ok, 50 million people were in here talking up this mic BEFORE it was released...where are you now?.....

dont make me go out and buy this mic and review it.......

What Gidge said! :D

I'm curiuos too! It looks like it fits my needs - CHEAP! ;)

I'd like to know how it sounds on vocals and how versatile it is.

Holy Cowzers! Baytown! I grew up in Clear Lake and we made fun of Baytown A LOT!

Karma being what it is, I now live in a place called Granite City (steel town) and it's probably worse (my bbs name is stinky after all). Viva la respiratory failure!

Sorry, just haven't said the word Baytown in a looooong time. Rock on.--Stinky

Well...
If I didn't already own a C1, I'd buy a B1.......

But then again, as they say, having more mics is a good thing, as there is no such thing as an "ALL purpose mic".

the onl;y experiance i've had with $79 mics is a nady condenser i bought out of musicians friend. i hate the sound of that nady mic...the highs don't sound right and its harsh.

so in my opinion....one would be hard pressed to get more bang for the buck that you get with a SM57.

my 7900 cents worth

I don't think it's fair to compare the B1 to a Nady. Nady is notorious for lousy qc; where as, Studio Project has a good reputation concerning product qc .

Yeah, haven't you been listening to Alan H. about how great the stuff is?

Seriously though, I've never had a problem with Alan giving the news to the bbs. The intent always seems to be informative and helpfull in addition to helping him sell microphones. I hope Alan continues in what I've heard (don't own any of his mics) is quality gear. If it wasn't for people like Alan responding to the burgeoning home recording industry, we couldn't even dream of quality large diaphragm mics for $80. I hope people stop giving the guy such a hard time.

What were we talking about?--Stinky

When I was working in the oil-field we worked out of Baytown for a while. Or was it Bay City? It was just east of Houston if I remember right. There was a huge lake out there south of the Interstate. We worked out in that lake.

Zeke,

That's Baytown. BTW- THat "lake" is a bay. Something of interest concerning Baytown: Parts of the movie "Hell Fighters" with John Wayne was filmed here in the 60s.

Yeah and when the movie crew pulled out of town, they just left the "Hell" part behind for the rest of Texas to enjoy. But hey, BIG OIL paid a lot of bills, so.....

I have received a B-1 mic for testing... I work for a newspaper and am writing a piece on home recording for the beginner/general audience, so I get to review a few pieces of equipment....

I have only used the mic for a few minutes on one track - so it's too early obviously to share any impressions. But I'd be happy to let you guys know what my rookie/newbie/will-never-be-a-professional-engineer ears hear from it when I get a chance, after some sustained use....

Eh???? Speak up son!!! I can't hear ya!!

Actually I just turned 38. Just starting to see a few gray hairs peeking through...

So you live in Tampa? Do you have some MP3s posted, or do you play out somewhere?

A while back I asked if anyone used the B1 for kick drum. No reply so I wrote SP and got this responce from Alan.

The B1 is not a dedicated Kick mic like the AKGD112. The B1 is more
versatile. As long as you uses a pop filter, the B1 will do a fine job
on kick, but it will also do a great job on vocals and acoustics. For
kick, I would place the B1 18" back using a pop filter and give it a
shot. It will do well. It worked for Johnny Lang's guys live, so it will
work for you.

Just in case anyone is interested...now discuss
