Title more says it.

I have an easier time (surprisingly) getting better sounds out of dynamics than cheap condensers. I also would say a higher quality dynamic will spank a lesser quality condenser.

So, I am trying to get opinions and experiences with the Blue line of dynamic mics. Read they are pretty warm and articulate? Heard they do nicely on instruments? Anything?

The prices aren't bad, and BLUE is a brand I am interested in, as far as giving their mics a go on my voice (male, baritone), and my buddy's guitar.

I was thinking of getting the enCore 100. This could be a live mic, but is more likely to end up doing duty as a home studio piece. The handling noise on this model is very noticeable from what tests I have seen of it. In fact, the handling noise is more or less it's biggest drawback from what I could hear.

I'd tell ya but it would be nothing you haven't heard before. :D
GC has them in the stores. How far do you live from one? You can try them out there.

About 15 miles or so, on the heavy end. Though the discussion we had about the Ev 767 makes a very tempting argument. Slight roll off to avoid being overly boomy or muddy... a good thing for someone who likes to sing in lower registers, and being close on the mic... but that is also a good plus in the favor of the Blue as well from what I have heard in terms of demoing done on videos. Either of those two would probably be nice choices, and neither would break the bank. Nor would I be tempted to fuss with the guts of a dynamic.... where as the condensers in the lower price ranges seem to be more like mod projects... which would be fun on their own, but probably not as immediately usable from where I am standing. Lol.

Well then shogg ..... I would go to GC and test drive them (they have them both) they are even open late til X-mas.

Lol. Maybe sometime next week or so. Got my hands full for a little bit. I can tolerate my Co9 quite fine for a bit, and not in a rush. Ha ha ha! I just like trying to come to a decision, and one I can stick to before I throw money down on anything. Don't get me wrong, I would love to get a hot rodded, or hot rod my own condenser just for grins...but it is out of my range for the moment...and way too much for my recording "needs." At some point I'll take that plunge... until then... make do!

Mercenary audio sells a tranny for dynamics you know. ;)

The Spark DOES interest me as well... however, information is limited apparently on that piece of work. Brand equity is not always enough for me to run off of, though it does work for a lot of other folks. :D

Great... a transformer for dynamics? How does that alter sound? I know you can beef up and alter the sound on a condenser with a trans swap... though I do not know the science behind it.

Just makes it a hot rod, check out their web site. the tranny is called the tab funken something, somthing ..... I can't remember off the top of my head. But looked to be a good deal.

Already got it bookmarked. :D
I imagine the transformer would beef most mics if added? Though I imagine it will not beef all mics in the same fashion... as they tend to be temperamental creatures. Lol.
