I'm currently looking around for a Tele' style body semi-custom guitar. I came across Tom Anderson's web page and I was quite impressed. I live in the Los Angeles area so there are a couple of shops that have his product in stock and I may give them a try. Has anyone here played one? What is the consensus on the quality of his guitars?

I'm also looking at a G&L ASAT. I'll take what opinions or experience you may have about these too?

Any other guitar makers I should be looking at?

Thanks
Easto

Iv'e played them before and they are excellent feeling and sounding guitars. The Guitar Center where I live (seattle) have a Tom Anderson wall. If I could afford one right now I'd probably get one.

Tom makes nice guitars, and there are many out there making nice tele style guitars. I do myself! Here is on I made a couple months back.

I have three different models with different style body chambering for different tones. Here is a Model C.

It's funny, I've only heard Anderson pickups, which are excellent, comparible to Fralins, but never have I played a Tom Anderson guitar.

I have never seen his guitars, but his reputation in the comunity is very good.

I've played a few of his guitars, and they are very, very nice. The fretwork was probably the best I've ever seen (played).

My main guitar is a Tom Anderson Drop Top Hollow T. I have played it for several years now. It is outstanding in every respect and a joy to own and play. A few weeks ago I e-mailed the company with a minor maintenence question concerning the tuning keys. Tom Anderson replied himself immediately. I've also called them on the phone before and you can talk to the guys who are making the guitars. If you are a serious player and want to play the best, try one out and see if it speaks to you.

Pro-Am

I have a Tom Anderson Pro-Am (pretty much the same as the photo on their product page, but mine has all-black hardware). It's been my main guitar since I purchased it in the early 90s.

It is one of the finest guitars I've ever played (and I've been playing for 20 years) in terms of feel, quality of build, and reliability.

As for sound, it is extremely neutral/versatile. For some people, this may be sort of a turn-off. The Anderson doesn't really have much of a "sound" of its own, which may be a good thing or a bad thing.

Anyhow, strongly endorsed. Fine instruments.

I own all these guitar, but I've been playing my Hollow Drop Top exclusively since I got it in 99'. It's the most versitile guitar I've ever played.
