Any ideas why I can't hear my computer?

I've only obtained my computer recently, and I'm not nearly ready to start recording yet. However, I am trying to hook my computer up to my mixing board so that I can start working towards that.

For starters, I'm trying to have my audiophile 2496 soundcard output to my Eurorack MX602A for my computer's speaker purposes. I have the RCA outs on the soundcard hooked up to the tape-ins on the mixing board, but for some reason the only sound I'm getting is a lot of fuzz and some clicking noises when I use the scroll ball.

Does anyone know what I need to do differently to get this working? Thanks.

Did you turn up the volume in the Delta mixer for H/W Out 1/2? They are turned down all the way upon installation.

Dumb ?, but are you using the ANALOG outputs, and not the DIGITAL? Not to say you're dumb, but there was a case here of someone plugging their SP/DIF output into tape ins on their board so it has happened before.

Otherwise, the M-Audio mixer probably needs some tweaking.

I do have the volume turned up, and I tried both the outputs from the card, so it's not either of those problems.

What kind of tweaking do you suggest gordone? I tried messing with all the little buttons and radio buttons I could find in the software, but none of it seemed to help.

Hi,
First, go to Start/Settings/Control Panel/Sounds and Audio devices.
Does the card show up? Double click on it - does it report to be working properly? Close that window, and go to the audio tab of Sounds and Audio devices. Select it for the default sound playback device. Also select it for the default record device.

Try that and come back.

You are awesome. I almost killed my right eardrum. Probably should have turned my amp down more.
