1) FREE thunder/lightning audio clips? we're working on an Easter production for our church and i need to create a HUUUUUGE thundrous, audio, storm display. it can rattle the windows, so any clips would be welcome. (i'll dump them into protools and edit them all around for a nice composite audio file.)

2) or, any good suggestions for creating our own thunder effects?

the entire sequence will last about approximately 2 - 3 minutes, because some of it will be very subtle underneath some narration and actors speaking, then SLAMMIN' at a particular moment...for about 15-30 seconds.

I stumbled across this site last week in an effort to
find a "water splash" wav for a jingle we were
working on. I would have recorded my own splash
in the pool but currently it's frozen over and wouldn't
have had the same effect :-)

yeah, be careful when trying to splash a frozen pool. (especially, if you were planning to cannonball or dive. YIKES! lol) yeah, somehow i think the dull thud, followed by a mournful groan just wouldn't translate to a nice jungle, splashy, watery effect. ha!

You can do thunder the old fashioned way with a thin piece of sheet metal. Just grab it and flap it for a great thunder sound. Add some delay and reverb to make it bigger.

An awesome effect for a few bucks.

yeah, i had thought of that one. it does make for some great thunder sounds. i found a lot of different wave files of thunder/wind/rain. i think i'm gonna use a nice combination of all of them.

There is a truly stunning thunder clap that Creative soundblaster has when you boot up your computer. If you forget and don't mute your system when you boot up in the morning, you get a wake up call that'll set you up for the day:D
