Any and all feedback welcome. Pop Country

Although the squished mix (everything in the center) helps accentuate the guitars in the chorus (and parts of the verse vocals), it makes the rest of the song sound amateurish. In particular the drums should have some panning added to them. Doubling the acoustic track with a 25% pan L/R wouild probably help a lot, and still won't be adramatic enough pan so that the effect you're looking for with the guitars in the chorus should still work.

That's one of the lyrically lamer songs I've heard in a while. I dislike most pop. :p

I like the song, and I'm not a pop country guy. In addition to a little more panning needed, I think the snare is too up front. Nice sound on it, but really kinda hits you in the face.

Thanks for taking a listen and giving some feedback. Odd about the panning, the drums were panned tight, 30L and 30R. The acoustic is panned 60L and 60R. But if it sounds squished, I may need to revisit it.

I agree, the snare is a bit too hot. I appreciate the feedback.

The lead singer disappears in a couple of spots... and I'd be going wider, as previously suggested.

I'm not getting the 100% organically recorded thing under the track.... it's an arbitrary line you're proud of staying on one side of.

Thank you for the listen and insight.

As far as why I put no virtual instruments were used, here is the explanation. In no way shape or form is it intended to be a smear against those who do, or a "better than" intent. I have nothing against virtual instruments, I am not opposed to using them. However, their is a client base that are purist to their tone, and are wanting to record their sound that they have honed over many years. They don't want triggered drums, virtual amps,... They want to have their tone captured. I am a guitarist that comes from that world and gets why they feel that way. So, it is something I can offer. In no way shape or form is it meant to be arbitrary. I didn't spend a lifetime figuring out how to record electric guitar to not use it! Lol

Unfortunately time moves on, with or without you. Imagine if these people only viewed refrigerators as a craze and/or only coddled the couple people who insisted on using ice chests?

I agree with the 'panning' comments...and thought either the vocals disappeared a bit during parts of the chorus OR the guitars got a wee bit too hot...but I thought overall it sounded quite nice.

However, I felt that the singer was struggling for those low notes in the verses...for some reason, that took away from the song for me.

Are there two acoustic guitar parts or did you copy and paste? To me the acoustic is coming straight up the middle and definitely not 60 L/R. Then the electric is sitting right on top of the acoustic, at least during the verses. I suggest sticking only one acoustic track on one side and the electric on the opposite side. During the solo, pull the electric back to the center and add some tracks for filler and balance.

I also suggest panning the overheads wider.

Good capture of the performances all the way around. I like the song. Lyrics are fine by me. Good catchy hook that is memorable. That's what you want.

@ Pinky

Or, their are a lot of guitarist who don't feel the technology is quite there yet. I know for me, as soon as the technology can truly get me there I am in! But, it's not there yet. There are many guitarist waiting for the refrigerator to truly come about. Until then (which I hope is soon), no virtual amps. But, I agree! The day is coming, and I hope it is soon!

@ Ace Tone

Thank you for the listen and feedback. The panning is an issue, I need to get it fixed. Thanks again.

Yep! Definitely need to get the panning fixed! Lol I think dropping a fiddle in would be great, but that's the artist call. I was going for a tight warm sound because of there being so few instruments on the track. I figured if I panned it out it would sound sparse. But, I think you are right.

This topic is unrelated to your original post, so maybe worthy of another thread... I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on what's "not there yet". I thought the same thing about 2 years ago then took the leap, and not only is it THERE now, it's better than any hardware combination I could afford to buy for a fraction the cost.

Cool, if there is something out there that is now on point I'm down! I'll start a new thread for the subject. I put it under "Recording Techniques".
