Antares ATR-1A Auto Tune Users?

While I am not a "big" fan of autotunes ( I guess I prefer talent instead) I do have a situation that is going to need some help. It is in the form of my own 6 year old that can really hit most notes but lays a little flat on a few upper scales. I have promised (this Dad never breaks them) my Son to record him singing 6-8 of his favorite songs. Believe it or not, he does a very good job even at 6 yrs.

My question is, before I order the ATR-1A Auto Tune, does it need a midi input for the proper correction or will it simply recongnize his voice, or his pitch and correct it to a preset value? I am not quite understanding this thing. I do own a Voice Prizm Plus so I am used to using midi with it but would like to do a real time correction if possible.

Any users here that can shed some light on this new territory for me?

You may wish to consider RBC Audio's Vocal Tweaker Pro. Autotune is expensive and uses that Interlock protection for its software. Vocal Tweaker is a lot less costly and can fix sour notes in the graphical view fairly well. It just takes a little time and practice to understand how to use the graphical view. I would try and avoid Atares products, they are over priced for what they do and they add that challenge response interlock on your system. Its a deep level of software protection that reaches like a cancer into to the bowels of your computer. Plus you are not allowed to resell your registration if you decide to move on.
