Djembes Rock
I've been using the Waves Renassiance 4.0 bundle. The plugins are certainly top notch, but I have a complaint that may not have been specifically addressed here before.
When a/bing with other brands of plugins, such as Timeworks, Ozone, PSP, or even the Cakewalk FX series, I can get them all to sound similar. Even CPU usage may look about the same.
The problem is, while making parameter adjustments, the Waves programs will usually cause dropout within a short period of time. With the other brands I can make adjustments to my hearts content and never have a dropout.
Has anyone else noticed this problem with Waves?

Sincerely,
Terry Kingen

I don't know how it goes with Ver. 4, but I use Waves 3.5 on PIII 866 machine, and they indeed suck big CPU power compared to other plugins. I guess we need to upgrade to P4, increasing RAM and get better soundcard (...anything better than SB Live! :p :D )for better performance. Waves is great, but there's high price we'll have to pay for it... :p

Spot on, James! Waves is great but demands a fair deal of CPU power... And that's just the way it is. :)

I must add that the dropouts only occur while looping. While playing a track or mix straight through the problem hasn't arisen. As you so eloquently said, maybe "That's just the way it is."

BTW Jaymz,

I, too, have the 3.5 bundle. After talking with Waves tech support, they allowed me to download the 4.0 upgrade for free. I'm not quite sure what the enhancements are, but the Channel Strip was a part of the deal. It's a great plugin! Have you tried contacting them about the upgrade?

Terry

It's almost imposible for me to contact them by phone. They only have unofficial distributor in my country, and they don't know much about it. However, I sent their support team an email asking about the upgrade. Mine is Gold Native Bundled 3.5. Not sure, but if it costs me another $600 bucks to upgrade, then forget it... I'll invest my money on better soundcard for now :D Cross my finger... Do you have any link about info on upgrading to V 4 ? I couldn't find it on their site. Thanks, Terry.
