Okay I recorded another version of LocusLarsen with just acoustic guitar and vocals.

Done in my kitchen with my Martin, a certain mic that shall remain nameless for the time being, and my neighbors NT1.

I am trying to record some songs for a demo to give to clubs. I will probably go with a mono mix but for now I still have to work in stereo just for my own personal satisfaction.

I am not really worried about the performance qualities (what a cop-out huh ;))as I had been setting up different mic-ing schemes and trying for hours on end to get the "mastering" down pat so I can have it play in a stereo with out volume issues. ...so I am more looking for tips on making it good for a club demo. However anything you want to add is more than welcome.

This will be re-recorded more than likely as I am a little less than happy with my vocal performance. Besides, I have to set up again for the other songs, so I might as well.

hey listened to it, nice mixing job, like the song alot, the vox were good...the song sounded a bit painful, but my voice is awful so i have no room to talk...nice song

I thought the song had some heart, I just couldn't understand the words some of the time.

The song has a drive that doesn't come out with the guitar slammin' the way it does. I would try using heavier compression on the guitar or backing it off from the mic a bit.

If your going to make the song mono, post that ver for more feedback. The song in stereo is hard for me to imagine mono.

Thanks. The guitar is acually stereo mic'd at 3 feet away. The Rode at about a foot and a half from the front of the headstock and facing the sound hole area. My AKG is about a foot or so kitty corner to the butt of the guitar facing the soundhole/top.

I did everything in one take.....vocals and guitar. Its not the best way to do it but I have a hard time overdubbing with the same flow and capturing any emotion.

The Rode is what captured most of the vocals since I was more or less facing it with my head. I panned that at about 10 o'clock and the AKG, if I remember, at 4 or 5 o'clock.

I will put up the mono take in a second.

Thanks again for the replies.
