Hey guy, I just found this site and i'm really glad i did. hopefully i'll be able to to learn a thing or two
got a question for ya...
this summer i've been experimenting with my life music quite a bit. I use Ableton live and use it i do! I record all my sets on a cheap tascam hdd recorder. 1 track for vocals(Myself and another) and the other track for ALL the music (guitar, piano, ableton live sets). I get a pretty 'Ok' recording. then i send the .wavs to my comp and (try to) mix em. My church bough cubase, sony suite, and sonar 5. But I cant stop from using acid to mix! It's so easy, and all my 100s of plug ins work in it. its fast and i just cant tear myself away from it.
Every time i try another program I end up getting impatient and go back to acid. But I really want to expand and start doing things the "right" way.
So my 1st question is, what program would you guys recommend for a noob that wants to grow? Not whats the best, or whats the industry standard.
Just what good i guess.
before i dump all my time into learning a new daw i want to be sure its the right one.
I tried mixing with live (someone said it works well with post mixing as well as live performance, uh du no) but my tracks kept loading out of sync, and i got this weird, constant, subtle popping in my tracks.
question 2! (your awesome if your still reading!)
I'm my effort to upgrade, I'm thinking about getting this unit-http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/FW1082/
Its a tascam FW1082, its got 10 simultaneous recording inputs and some other features. but i was thinking that i'd be able then to have a track for each voice and instrument. Record the set right to the daw and get away from the pain in the but hdd process.
so what do ya think???
If you wanna hear a few clips from my music...
