Another Question about soffits!

Ok, I've got my box built, power & speaker cable run. KRK V8's are going in... yes, they're powered.

My question is this: Do I have to put a back on the actual part the speaker sits in? The soffit as a whole has a back on it... as you can see in the picture.

Again, these are powered monitors, so I left the back of the speaker mount open for ventilation. Does this part need to be closed off as well?

Here's a pic to illustrate... BTW, we're going to do a cloth face on the soffits, and yes, that's part of an Oak resonator off to the side :)

I think you leave it open for venting per John Sayer's detail.

Looks damn good Oz. I'm about a week away from starting my soffits.

Must be an Aussie thing :)

Ok, one more time.

The speaker sits in a box mounted in the soffit (we'll call it the speaker box). The soffit itself has a closed back. Do I have to close the back of the speaker box? Or can I leave an air space for ventilation?

Better yet, do you see anything wrong with the pictures?

Here's a closeup

Are yes - I noticed it in the shot at your site, leave it open - the soffit is only the front panel really isn't it? The box is for rigidity.

see my other answer regarding above and below the speakers in your other post. :)

Thanks John! I wasn't completely sure, and my construction guy and I had a rather long debate about it... turns out he was right.
