Hi I am new hear. I am looking for a mic preamp to help with my giging set up. I play acoustic guitar and sing. I have one rack space left for a pre and have narrowed my list down. Looking for 2 channels one for guitar and one for vocals. Price range is between 200-400 new or used.
My list:
Aphex 207D
PreSonus MP-20
Rane DMS 22
FMR-RNP (Don't know if I can afford this one)

Do any of these stand out as a good acoustic and live pre over the others? Any thoughts or other pre's I should consider?

Thanks Damon

the usual suspects-- the m-audio dmp3, the art mpa gold, or two rane ms-1b's (i think it may use a different chip than the dms 22)

The RNP is kick ass for acoustic guitar AND you should be able to get one for under $400 used here (<- note spelling) or over at gearslutz.

I think you will be happy with an RNP

I dunno man, you might not be able to find one hear... :D

check out the trident 4T. you can run both and mix it

I think that Aphex 207D sounds pretty good. I think you could get one new and still remain in your budget.

Thanks for all the help. I think I am going to save my pennies and get a used RNP. From all the reviews I have read it sounds like the RNP is the right fit for my needs.
Anyone looking to sell one? :D

Thanks again,
Damon

Just to give you something else to think about, a couple-three years ago someone did a blind acou guit shoot out between the DMP3, RNP, and SP VTB1. Unofficially, the DMP3 won that shootout. I liked it best, and decided to buy one. I still usually use it over my $1,200 Sebatron for solo acou guit. Fits in a mix well, too.

When I upgrade, it won't be to an RNP.
