I gotta brag a little, I lucked up yesterday!!! I picked up a Fender Twin/with extention 2X12 cab for $275. I wasn't looking for another amp but this was too good of a deal to pass. Fantastic deals in pawn shops don't occur as frequently as they used too, but sometimes you can still find one. I'm just a little curious, anyone else got a deal worthy of bragging lately?

I have never gone to a pawn shop to look for gear, and as much as I like bargains and new gear (new to me anyway) I am going to start visiting some. Here in the Atlanta area they are on every corner, so I'm gonna get my money ready!

You lucky bastard, my pawn shop only has entry level Ibanez guitars for just under retail price so it's not worth it to go through them.

Gads, I sort of stopped looking in pawn shops, most of the stuff if anything looks over priced.
Did find a clean JBL K-110 for a $20 at the swap meet. :D

Nice score! I thought Ebay killed the pawnshops.... as far as finding sweet deals. Back in the day I used to get tons of good deals, but havent had ANY luck in the last 5 or so years.

Changing Pawn Shop times...

my local pawner said he makes more off Ebay than the local yocals coming in.
he still does the loan thing, which by the way is better than almost all credit card rates.

he sells his pawn crap all over the world now...a uke to India, a 62 fender to Japan....

unfortunately, his inventory of "museum" pieces has gotten so empty, its boring going into his store most the time as the good stuff never see's the shelf.

Used to be able to go in about every 4 weeks and see new/old stuff, things Guitar Center doesn't sell....odditys and old gear, cool.. which is why I liked 'em.

Now its mainly new Alvarez and Crate and some crap-pieces(listed on Ebay).
Some damaged new stuff at good prices.

He said he even has "lists" of people who want to buy certain things before they hit the floor!!....like old Fenders and Gibsons...like a collectors waiting list.

for me the store sucks now, really, its more like a frkn Ebay Pawn Shop store?

Ya, ebay and the internet killed it. The only deals left are screw ups by the owner. Every pawn shop knows what stuff sells for and they won't sell it for less because they can just list it on eBay...and if you notice, they all do that anyways.

I just got home from the swap meet. I bought a '67 P bass in HSC for 60 bucks. I still can't beleive it!

Wow, that's almost into scary can't believe it'. Like somebody goofed -big time?

dani and jch, you both got kick ass deals on some cool gear.

Sorry if I Hijacked Dani;

I couldn't wait to tear into this thing when I got home. It's a one piece body. I think it's ash. The neck was dated Oct. '66 and the ser.# jives with a 1967 production date. The electronics seemed all original. I removed the nasty crud from it, cleaned the pots, bridge, and tuners, and put it back together with the strings that I bought on my way home. It plays, and sounds pretty nice. I'm glad I got there early today. The guy who sold it had mostly just junk. To him I guess it was just a crusty old guitar.

I don't mind if you hijack my thread, even steal my songs (if you think they're worth it) but you aint getting that Twin, it sounds too good!

I jammed with my dumpster Ampeg yesterday. Alls I can say is, I'm in love!!!!!!!!!

I don't think I've ever seen a deal in a pawn shop since I saw one in Huntington WV that had a 335 for $300 - and that was in like 1982. As a matter of fact, the prices in pawn shops are ridiculously high compared to even music go round.

Sometimes you can find some elcheapo junk for something reasonable. I bought a Peavey audition 10 for $15 a long time ago. I used it to record a long time ago. It sounded really good if I turned it up all the way and put it in an old refrigerator with a 57.

Cool with me.. That amp was an awesome find. g/l with it.

Mike; Here's some ampeg goodies

Las Vegas is lousy with pawn shops. Although the killer deals are fewer, and further between they're still out there. I'm always snooping around to see what's hanging on the walls. Every once in a while you hit a jackpot.

I probably wont hang on to this bass. I've got a couple that I like. I've already been offered some nice trades for it. Most likely in five years I'll regret selling it, but the urge to parlay it into some other gear is too tempting.
