is there a differance between the Oktava MC-012 and the MK-012

or am i just having a big mis understanding?

so if they were made in russia the MC and the MK are the same

Actually, I think I've heard of people getting decent results with the Chinese copies; so I don't know that it's a joke.

yeah i've heard the same remarks but i dont think the chinese ones are actually better than the russian ones ???

I would tend to agree with you. But I know that the quality of the Russian ones was occasionally suspect as well, so it's probably not a slam dunk. I picked up a used Russian one off of ebay awhile back and have been happy with it.

Maybe you should search the other threads. All the reports I've heard are that the chinese ones are starting to outshine the Russian ones, but they might be stopping production on the chinese copies.

I did own the Russian version at one time and now I own the Chinese. I actually like the Chinese version a tad more because its slightly brighter. I don't think there is a better pencil mic for 100 bucks out there than either one of these two.

from what i've heard, the differences are exactly what you'd think

the ones made in china are a little brighter, with a touche less to the low mid area.

exactly what one would think coming from china.
