Another Nt1000 or 2 Studio Projects B1s?

I'm looking into setting up for stereo acoustic guitar recording.

At the moment, I have one Rode NT1000 which I'm using for vocals.

I hear that the Studio Projects B1 could be a good inexpensive choice. I could get two of these, or for a little more, I could get another NT1000.

Any views on whether 2 B1s would be better for recording acoustic guitar than 2 NT1000s?

As much as I like my B1, I like my NT1000 better. Maybe get one B1 and use the two of them together. Usually when recording a guitar with two mics, you are placing them for different sounds anyway.

This probably didn't help much did it?

Blessings, Terry

I'd go with the NT1000. I've got one and plan to get another. It doesn't hurt to pay a little more and get something better.

yes it does!!! I dont have a car anymore, but i sure love my u87!

Better is a subjective term. The B1's are built as good as any mic out there. Their design uses the latest technology has to offer, uses very good quality components, and it is a very good mic.

Will the B1 perform in the manner you want, well that is subjective. They are well known for miking acoustic instruments well. Oceanway in Nashville uses them all the time with C1's. Julian King, Oceanway's lead engineer used them on Paul Franklin's dobro, and liked them better than any mic in their arsenal...So like I said, everything is subjective.

The B1's are a great pair of mikes to own, and in the end it gives you more flexibility with your NT1000. So will they work...yes, will you like them...That is what is subjective. All of this is off course my opinion. I own the company so TIFWIW..... :)

I like both mics, but where the b1 is nice, the thing that comes to mind with the NT1000 is QUIET. Very quiet mic.
