This one is completely different. A guy I work with gave me the accoustic and vocals on a cassette tape he recorded about 20 years ago. The quality was pretty bad, but I managed to clean it up. The only problem was when I eq'd the vocal, it messed with the accoutic as well. It's a happy song, not really my kinda thing.

Hello,

My initial thoughts on this tune are that the vox is way lost. That sucker sounded buried to me and only scratched the surface of the grave because of the high end eq on it. I'm not so suave at post-production, so take the comments as they stand. In light of the nature of the recording(i.e. an analog cassette from '82 with just acoustic git and vocals) I thought you did a FINE job of converstion and preservation but, the original/core tracks are way hidden and downplayed by all the (very solid, appropriate and cool, nice chops!) stuff added to the update. How did this acoustic and vox cassette track have decent enough timiing to put those drums on? Nice job on that acount alone!

In short, I liked the endevour but, thought the reason behind it was lost. I can't hear the vox and the acoustic comes into focus now and again. I liked the git solo but thought the verb tone was too much. I might be all wrong and if I am, you've my concedence. But, I think the original tracks should shine more and be augmented by your additions. As it stands, the old tracks take a back seat to the new and what is the point in that.

Props for the restoration, additions and git chops. Maybe rethink the meaning of the mix.

Hope I didn't cross any lines. Just my simple thoughts.

Theron.

Yeh, the timing. Well first off, the guy did a fine job of keeping the tempo solid on the original. I had to manually adjust the SR16 during tracking, but only about 4 bpm across the entire song. It was a little tricky to say the least. I guess the rest of the song is a weee bit overboard compared to the original tracks. No, you didn't cross any lines.
