Slim takes on the killer

Maybe I'm shooting with blanks, but I have a couple criticisms of the mix...

I thought the vocal was way too far back, and probably undercompressed. It was dominated by the drums and bass, even softer on the low notes, and it was impossible to make out the lyrics without cranking the volume way up.

This is a nit, but I also thought the lead guitar could have used a little more air; it was loud enough but sounded a little muffled.

I did like the overall production quality, of course, and I think they are a good band...
 
Sounds like a solid mix to me. Though, I can definitely hear Slim's point about the vox being a bit too far back...they are just a little too camoflaged.

Anyway, cool stuff!

Definately, the vocals could have used another couple dB!

two parts to this message, i have DSL now, so i can DL mp3s now like lightning! muuahaha... but somehow this website is SOOO SLOW still.. no mattr how much bandwidth I have, this site is slower then shite. oh well, its good anyway.

onto part two. Despite all the pros of the mix, (you know everyone can point out the negatives) I found the drums actually kinda sounded weak. Especially in the intro. It sounded like you threw a bunch of verb on it because you couldn't think of anything else to do with it. The snare just lacks in the song. but the rest of the drums sound good once the rest of the music comes in. I dont know if im hearing things but at 1:41 i think you tried to use some "digital silence" as well as later in the song, and it didnt fly, it sounded like a little click , maybe not enough time to really mix well or that was probably dont later in editing.

This sounds empty compared to some of the mixes ive heard form you :D of course those took 1000 times longer to do...

i have to say that "your virgin forest is no more" have got to be one of the cheesiest lines ive heard lately. I guess if you say it all smoooooth then you get the women.

I like some of the effects on the lead guitar, when it just sounds spacey. like you are floating through space, its cool.
 
I loved this song; very impressive! I would buy it. :) The mix was perfect. Killer guitar lead, and the vocals were awesome. Fantastic job!!

I hate to give this song a rave review cos Sonusman might then say that he hates the mix.

I like it. As usual, you have the balance where it should be. I think I hear the best balance on your mixes more than anyone elses.

THe vocals sound phat. Actually, everything sounds phat. One day I might be able to mix this good.

I don't think there was too much effect on it. It sound nice where its at.
