How would you mic a set with these mics?

1 SM58
1 SM57
3 SM58 Betas
Some Audio Technica Mic (really crappy)

I have a Yamaha Stage Custom (snare, 3 toms, hi-hat, bass, crash, ride) and it's set up standardly.

I know I don't really have the best mics for the job, but what way should I set it up to get the best results? I was thinking 57 on snare, 1 beta on kick, 58 on hi-hat and the other to betas as overheads. Is that the best way to go about it? Also, where should the hi-hat mic and overheads be placed?

I'm thinking of getting a pair of B1 condensors to use as overheads, but I gotta save up some more cash.

Thanks,
Scott

With what you've listed, I'd put a Beta in the kick, one on the snare and the last one between the rack toms. Maybe a 57 on the floor tom. I wouldn't tight mic the hats. B-1's might be cool as overheads but I've no experience with them. Something more to think about, I really like a large diaphrame condensor out in front of the kick about 3 or 4 feet about two feet off the floor. And also you really need a kick mic of some kind (AKG D-112, ATM-25, whatever).

sstage custom is a good sounding kit for recording. spend some time tuning it, you should get a nice sound out of it
