Hey,

Im having problems in cakewalk , im getting dropouts when I start to record or when im recording I think mostly when the song starts to get louder or what not. I searched around the forums and still kinda confused and havent fixed my problem. Here are my specs

AMD AthlonXP 1.6ghz
768Mb Ram
80gb Harddrive - (70gb free)
M-Audio Audiophile 2496 soundcard
Phonic MM1002 mixer

I just reformatted my computer nothings really on it, its like new and im getting dropouts , I have no spyware or anything thatll run in the background thatll give me this problem , So I figured itll be a problem with soundcard or cakewalk settings thanks!

Which driver are you running for your sound card?

ASIO? WDM? MME?

Drop Out's major reason for occurance is Latency. ASIO & WDM should have a pretty good latency, MME will be no where near as good.

First things first... if you are using a WDM driver for the sound card, run the wave profiler. If you are using ASIO, try increasing the latency slider to increase it and see how you do.
