I don't know why this keeps happening. Well, I'm finally getting around to some DIY. inter alia have a PRR VariMu compressor. Starting with the PSU. The PCB's I got don't have a silkscreen, just holes and solder mask.

I have a print out of the component layout.

So I put in a few caps I had lying around (which have been in my stash for a while, I know, I'm asking for trouble there, but I like to live on the edge....)

"-" sign labeled on the cap. "+" labeled on the print out. I put the parts in a few weeks ago, and then got around to soldering. Went ahead and soldered. Looked again. Looked again. Looked again. Noticed the + side was on the wrong side. Desoldering took up the copper on the pad hole, so had to scrape off some solder mask and make an ugly globulous mess to make a connection.

I'm glad we have so many new emoticons...

At least you didn't power it up unbeknownst of the error until BANG!
