hey all

How do I get rid of those annoying pops before and after I play some sounds, samples in my programs? Does anybody else have a problem with this?

Thanks

Well, that could be several things. What program do you have to edit the wavs (Cakewalk, Cooledit, etc.) Do you hear the pops at the same places everytime? When looking at a wav view, do you see transients (spikes) where the pops are? Where did these 'samples' come from? What are you sequencing/playing them back with?
Could be dc offset problems, or maybe your wavs don't start and end at 0 volts. Could be your equipment, etc..........

sorry about being vauge,

im using this shareware synth program called smorphi. It lets you create samples for other programs (i have virtual sampler and ntrak, you can tell im cheap.) anyway, when i press play in smorphi I hear a speaker pop at the begining and end of the sample. I haven't noticed elsewhere so I really confused. THanks

Do you have any kind of wav editor like Goldwave, Cooledit, etc? Believe me, I can sympathize with the whole barebones ethic. If you don't have anything, you can at least get some shareware that you can use to figure this out. If things get really desperate, you could always post a 'bad' sample and make a link to it here and I could download it and check it out for you. However, I HIGHLY recomend getting a program to use yourself!
I'm not familiar with smorphi but I do know that there are many shareware synth progs out there. Check out Maz Sound and Sonic Spot pages for more share/freeware programs.
