Hello, first off, I'm sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum but I believe this forum is the most relevant.

Anyway, I have a problem with short bursts of electrical buzzing that happens from time to time.

It is especially apparent when I'm DI-recording bass - I'm using the DI out of a Peavey TKO 115 bass amp, into a DI box, and into my mixer.

Every few seconds, a little short "bzzt!" will appear, and it's annoying; not to mention, can't be removed from the recording.

Also, turning on or off things in the building (anything from the toilet lights to the staircase lights outside, or fans in the lounge area) will generate a slightly loud popping sound.

I am no electronics expert though, so in plain english, what is there that I can do to solve this problem?

Thanks. :)

Sounds like it could be a bad capacitor somewhere in that signal chain.

I'm kinda curious why you're taking a DI out of an amp and running it through another DI before dumping to disc.

Are you using a grounded circuit??? You may want to have somebody come out and check your service ground.

You will also get line noise when refridgerators kick in. Or the solenoids on a water dispensor on a fridge.

First of all:

1) Get an electrician
2) Tell him that you want neutral to ground only on the panel
3) Tell him you separate circuits for
a) Computer/Recorder
b) Rack
c) Mixer
d) Lighting
e) Rest of the house

That will take care of any distortion power supply. AC supply distortion can actually harm your equipment.
