annoying buzz from p/u in epiphone sheraton

is this a common problem in this guitar? i was checking this guitar in the store today and the guitar was making these buzzing even after replacing cables and testing it on another amp. what is this sh+++t?

Did you check out more than one Sheraton in the store?
 
Well, I checked and that model guitar has 2 humbuckers, so it ain't suppose to buzz.

This is somewhat the same topic, except my buzzing problem is with a fender strat, is the buzzing problem witht he pickups or the cable, or both? This would probably be a good time to ask how often I should change both my pickups and cables too, I've had the strat for a little less than a year but I bought it used and am not sure if the person who owned it before me has changed the pickups, and I've had the same cable for god knows how long.
