ok do i need to cut these into parts??? how exactly do i use these in drumagog??

im new to drumagog been reading manual but how would i go about using these wav files???

were do i wana cut the tail of audio at were the next drum begins??? or do i not wana let it ring out kinda new with drumagog dont know how exactly i should cut these up!!!

also when in drumagog do i wana use like all the kicks or just pick one i like please any help with drumagog and these samples would rock :D

You want to cut the clip to start just where the hit begins. At a zero crossing. If you leave any dead space at the beginning of the clip there will be a delay in Drumagog. Cut the end to just after the decay ends. It doesn't really matter where, just make sure you fade out the end of the clip so there is no shit happening at the end of it. You don't need 2 seconds of silence after the sound decays, just enough to get the full sound.
As far as which hits to load, when I made a .gog file out of these kick samples I loaded them all in just for variety's sake. There is not alot of volume variation in these samples, and if you're doing metal (which I'm assuming you are if you're after these samples) you probably don't want much variation anyway. You could probably just load one sample actually and use a little dynamic tracking in Drumagog if you wanted to, maybe none of that either. That part is really up to you. By the way, I'm talking kicks of course. That's the only drum I'll replace anyway. With snares and toms you want to keep the full spectrum of hits, from soft to hard. So yeah, you want to load in all the different hits for those.

drumagog

ok now if drummer is playing soft and im using 1 snare sample will drumagog play that sample soft and get louder as drummer gets louder???

im a little confused on how to use more than 1 sample at a time for like snare and how i go about doing that i have read manual but i just get lost :(

i guess if the drumagog follows volume of player that would be ok but for like a snare rim shot or something i would not want it to play the regular snare and thats were im lost on how to do stuff like that and i know its with using multi samples and something with db..........

Using "Dynamic Tracking" in drumagog will allow it to follow the volume of the original material. You can also adjust this as a percentage. If you have several different samples, you will modify them to trigger at different volume levels according to what kind of hits they are (soft to hard). If you have certain things that won't trigger right, then you just need to spend some time going in there and editing to remove the drumagog hits that you don't want. You'll just need to use your DAW software for that.

I absolutley love these styles of drums. I've tried to get some good drums samples, but they are always geared towards as realisitic as possible. I like that huge kick and toms. Are there any other resources for samples like these?

Thanks again for the link.
I've know this guy's albums, but never knew his name. Glad he's got a message board too.

No problem, dude.
I haven't ran across any other samples quite like these. I have made some similar sample sets using sounds from Drumkit From Hell Superior, and doing some processing to them.

I've seen alot of talk about samples on the Andy Sneap forum. I'd keep my eye on that.

metalhead

hey metalhead hook up some samples from the dfh or whatever it is :D maybe make some cool ones and post them like andy did his i will use them lol!! anyway what is this dfh is it come with a ton of samples that kick ass  new to the whole drum programs thing tryin to take all this stuf in!!!

HAHA, you don't ask for much do you? :D
Just kiddin, dude.
DFHS is basically a virtual instrument. A drum sampler that is triggered by MIDI. I've made .gog files by creating a track of several different velocity drum hits from DFHS and then cutting it into individual hits to load into Drumagog. I wouldn't mind posting some .gog files, but I don't have a place to host them.....

:D

I'd be more than happy to provide a host. Or you can use a free service like YouSendIt.com or MegaUpload.com. I'd love to hear what you got either for toms or kicks with DKFH. I've only played around with DKFH2, but it sounded way to natural and I haven't really learned the art of processing for that metal sound.

Okay, I'll look into that. I've got .gog files made with the Sonor toms from DFHS with no processing on them. Also the DW kick with just a few hits with a little processing that I made for something specific. I think the unprocessed stuff is more useful, cause you could use it for more. If you're looking for something specific, I could probably make something up. Otherwise, I'll get back to you with some files tomorrow or Monday. (I'm at work now)

I appreciate it, and feel free to take your time. I'm glad you are willing to post some gogs up. Drumagog just put up a forum for this same thing.

I think what I'm looking for is sounds similar to the drums either on Lamb of God's "Ashes of the Wake" (really punchy, but lots of attack, especially the toms) or that explosive sound on Trivium's "Assendancy". Pretty much anything within this genre of drum sounds would do, but those are some of my favorite sounds.

But I'm not picky, what ever you are willing to share is more than enough. Thanks again.

yea yea yea metalhead is the coolest

Man that would be awsome if you posted some samples i was just kiding around but hey i take em and see what i can do with them!!! im trying to get as many samples as possible right now so i can use when needed.

aaaaaaaaaaany way take your time metal head and let us know on this thread when you plan on hosting somewere so i can GET EM TOO!!!!!!!!!! :)

Metalhead, not meaning to butt in on your thread, but here's some more samples that are pretty good. These used to be called Tom Hicks samples, but now they're on Artist Collaboration.

Tom Hicks Samples

Here's another... I've never used these though

kalava

I have a GOG of the Sneap samples if anyone wants...

There are some okay ones in there, but nothing really close to the style. Thanks for the link though. Never can have enough drum samples (and useable ones at that)
