... and I still can't sweep

It seems every little urchin sweeps like hell (ok, I didn't hear a single one play - but there's a lot of them claiming at least).

anyway: I can't sweep... but I really want to learn it. But just playing sweep-licks at low speeds doesn't seem to help much.

I managed to polish up my speed-picking a bit - but it took me quite a long time (compared to the progress I made).

so do you know any good exercises to make quick progresses?

(and yes, I DO know that a good solo ain't just about speed, but for me a flashy run is the salt in the solo-soup)

thank you

Incidentally. I've just been working on my sweep picking over thge past week. I had always sort of ignored it as it's not essential to my style but I wanted the technique down and this hour lesson is better than anything I've ever seen covering the art of sweep picking.

I would also advise that you then go through some of the other archives to enhance your playing further.

I wish this site had been around when I was learning to play. When I did come across it and watch the archives I really saw an improvement in my playing; I got rid of some bad habits (yes, I'm self taught) and even bought a metronome, LOL.

Have fun.

thank you, krystof. I'll check it out.

... yes, metronomes are quite crucial - especially for "the recording guitarist".
