I've been using an EMU 0204 to take my line outputs from my tascam 488 to my laptop but the results seem to be a bit strange, there's like a small amount of echo on the whole track and it just lacks the fullness from the original, Is there an easy solution to this? thanks :)

Sounds like you had some kind of loopback going on.....check your I/O and digital interface settings.

Were you using the stock sound card line in of the laptop?

I wasn't but having said that...it may have been set up with the 'stereo mix' as the designated recording device on the laptop, as well as the EMU, which might have something to do with it. Will have another go, thanks.

The stock sound card in my laptop has has this damn sound effects setting found in the control panel that wil apply a stupid "room sound" effect. I always have to go in and turn it off manually or it puts that room sound to audio and it sound just the way you describe.
