I searched the old threads and not being that tech savy, I was not really able to gleen anything that helps me with my issue.

I loaded CubaseLe4 that came with my Lexicon Lambda interface on my Dell running XP. It has a Pentium "something" processor (as I said not that savy).

Every time I start Cubase the program tells me that it could not Load the ASIO. So, I go to the "Devices" and switch to the ASIO Lamba manually. Not even sure what ASIO is but.... it seems to work....

That gives me recording capability as my meters light up when I strum my quitar and when I hit the red button, I can record. But, cant monitor what I am recording. I can hear playback once recorded.

I tried switching in the "control panel" which device to use for "Out/Playback" (card that came with the computer or the Lambda) and I cannot seem to monitor with the headphones plugged directly into my computer either way. I can hear playback once a track is recorded.

I can monitor and hear playback if I plug the headphones direcly into the Lambda but then I have SEVERE latency issues where it basically sounds like two drunk guys trying to play.

Suggestions ?

Make sure the live signals you are recording are not feeding back to the output of the Lambda. You may have to mute their tracks or change an "input monitoring" setting in the recording software. Then use the Monitor Mix control on the Lambda to balance between the backing tracks and the live inputs. This should give you zero-latency monitoring of your inputs through the headphone out of the Lambda. See pages 10 and 11 of the manual.
