I really am about to buy this mic, the Project Studio C1, cause the reviews for it are outstanding. And I really need a vocal mic. But I want owners of the mic to tell me what KIND of vocals they are good for. The voice I have is deep (Pete Yorn, HUM), yet can be soaring (Coldplay, Radiohead). I am all over the place with my voice. I'd also like to know what other instruments this mic is great for. Is this mic an "all rounder" with vocals?
Thanks,
Rob

Why don't you run a search for it ... there are so many threads about it on here. You'll have to search for C1*, because the search string needs to be three characters.

Should be great for your low stuff, but its got accentuated highs which might be a problem for the high falsetto stuff. I've not used it though, so I'm not really the one to say

I've tried the C1 for a couple of days, but brought it back because it sounds very bright and cold IMHO. I like bright but silky sounding mics, but this is just too much.

I have two B1's though which I like, they're not as nice as many much more expensive LDC's, but for the $79 you can't get a better mic.

I would try the other SP mics for your voice. I do have an MXL V77 which I like very much on many vocals, both male and female. I'm recording a jazz band now and the V77 really shines on the upright bass.

You could also try the V69, which is a more colored tube mic, but you might like it.

I like Audio technica 3035 at this point but I do like the c1 as well, the 3035 is more usable on a variety of stuff IMHO

I've had a pair of C1 mics for about two years. They're Okay. I use them sparingly... they're generally not my go to mics... but, IMO they're worth the price.

here's a C1 in action compared to several other mics... one less expensive and two others, more expensive.

If your referring to the 797 Audio/Studio Projects C1 mic... it is a brighter sounding mic than say the MLX V67G, and works pretty good for any voice that would need to be EQ/brightened in the same freq's as the C1 is bumped up... the C1 is one of the better cheap Chinese made budget mics and can work well for some voices... but not all voices. I suggest you audition the C1 to see how you like it first before buying one.
