An easy way of splitting an audio signal(?)

Hi everyone,
My name's MMensch (well, my home-studio name anyway), and this is my first post here. I'd like to know if there's an easy way of getting two identical mono signals out of a single mono output.

My situation is as follows - I'd like to use a mono aux send for the Behringer REV2496 V-verb. Although it has mono-in mode, I can't use it because I'm using the digital input as well, and there, the right digital channel just gets ignored (instead of summed), which doesn't work for me. So I need to get this mono send to both the V-verb's left and right analogue inputs. I thought I could get away with using an insert cable, but it didn't work, there was no signal on the right (return) jack.

So, what are my options? The only thing I thought of was getting two mono cables and have them both soldered to a mono jack which would then distribute the signal to both leads - would that work in the first place, I mean is it a good idea (I'm no good even at the simplest electronics)? And is there possibly a different, easier alternative altogether?

Thanks in advance.

A hearty welcome to you in Slovenia !
I'm pretty rubbish at electronics too - luckilly there are many here who are not, I'm sure they'll soon chime in. I don't know if a Y splitter cable would work ? That's a cable that has one jack at one end and two separate jacks at the other. Or a Y box. I use one for my bass and guitar when I want to go from the one output into two separate amps/inputs. You plug the output into the box's input and the two outs from the box to the ins of wherever you want to go. Works for guitars, but for your situation, I can't say.

Hi, and thanks for the welcome.

Yes, I guess getting a splitter cable is the general idea, though I'm not sure just what kind you have in mind. Like I said (well, implied), I tried a stereo 1/4" into two mono 1/4" (i.e. an insert lead) and it didn't work - the ring of the stereo jack wasn't getting any contact, and I've never seen a mono 1/4" split into two mono 1/4".

A Y box definitely looks like an option, though I'd prefer a cable solution, due to the cost factor if nothing else - call me cheap but I think I'd sooner sacrifice an additional aux send just for that than drop 40€.

Yes, you need one mono into two monos. They do exist, though I don't know how easy they are to find.

If worse comes to worse, you can get a mono female into two mono males. I think that would be easier to find. You then just take a regular mono cable and plug that into the female part of the jack. You now have one mono male into two mono males.

That thing that Dinty talks about is really good. I'd forgotten that I have one. I've used them for years.
