Has anyone ever tried this tube in this mic? I know someone that has one for me, but I wanted to get some opinions before I tried it out.

...the Bugle Boy (ECC88) by Amperex (worth about $20) is probably better than the stock Sovtek but not one of the better 6922 series tubes...
...better yet would be the Amperex E88CC Gold Pin or Siemens E88CC Gold Pin...but the Bugle Boy is definately worth a try...record a track with the stock tube and then record the same track again with the BB tube...be sure to let the mic warm up about 30 minutes before tracking...see if you can hear any difference...the difference will be very slight and more than likely it will show up on high end clarity and bass definition, if at all...Good Luck!

Hey Kid!

Not to steal this thread, but I have been considering a different tube for my T-3.
Do you have any suggestions or sources / prices?
A little more clarity particularly in mid to low end would be nice .
Maybe a little less self noise?

...that's an easy one...GE 5 Star 6072 Triple Mica (just like my T3)...if you can't score one of those, try the GE 6072A (JG 6072 Military issue)...all over eBay...
