Hi! I just got an 1820m and I have to say it is KILLER! Still waiting for my mic and keyboard to arrive but so far, it's been great. So, I've been screwing around with my guitar going in direct in the meantime, and I have to say, this thing is NOT a good direct-box. I have a quesiton though:

I have a Line 6 Duoverb. It's a modeling amp that has a pair of XLR outs on the back if one wishes to plug in direct, like a POD. It has an output gain pot that goes from -22 to +4 on the back also. Is it ok to use standard XLR mic cable to plug it into the MIC preamp and use it as an input? it's not harmful is it? I tried and noticed it's exceptionally noisy. Or should I buy an xlr to 1/4" adapter and plug in instead? Is there a difference?

Thanks! 1820M is SOOOO QUIET!!!

I assume that the XLR output of the amp is on line level. In that case, all you have to do is to get one of those xlr to 1/4'' cables and plug it into one of the line inputs of the 1820m.

With the pot turned all the way down on the mic input, there's still something like 10 db of gain or something along those lines. XLR to 1/4 should do the trick for the Line 6...
