Questions regarding my next equipment purchase. I have a pod and love it. The problem is I never bought an amp. I play the pod through my stereo system and as expected it doesn’t sound as good as when I monitor through my headphones. I want to continue to use the pod to find sounds that I want to record. My question is this:
Should my next piece of gear be an amp or a pair of Yorkies (YSM1Ps. ? )
This purchase would be my first pair of monitors, so hopefully my recordings will improve as a result.
OK question 2:
Can play my pod through these monitors getting a decent sound (comparable to the small line6 spyder amp) and not risking damaging them? - note: not really planning to crank the volume that high.
Of course I want to noodle on my guitar to find tones I like and such. A line6 spyder would be great but like I said I’ve got $500 to spend and for now it's either or. Also it makes sense to me that you need to experiment a lot with the POD to really find the sounds that you want. How can you do this without wearing headphones?
What are the pros of getting an amp over the Yorks as far as sound quality. (For noodling not for recording) I won't be playing any live gigs for litte while yet.
