Great test!
I know some will say this kind of stuff is useless, but it's at the very least fun! And as tests go, I think this is one of the better ones. Extremely consistent playing, which is very important. Wish I could be that consistent.
Anyway, I definitely liked the sound of the v67 best, it really picked up the sound of your fingers as you plucked. But I thought the self-noise, (at least that's what I THINK it is) is way too distracting, to the point that if this were a real solo piece, it would be unusable without cleaning it up in software. (This is also consitent with my limited experience at using it.)
I liked the 3035 next best, and if this were a solo piece, that's the one I'd use out of this bunch.
Next, the 57. You're 57 sounds better than my 57, btw, but I don't doubt that it's got nothing to do with the mic.
Next, the 603s. From the examples I've heard on this bbs, I'd say it makes a better steel string mic than nylon. Or, maybe it was a placement issue. Just my .02
BTW, if anyone here is old enough to remember, I thought this take had a flavor very reminiscent of Blind Faith's 'Can't Find My Way Home'. That part was kind of cool.
Surprisingly, the MK012 was my least favorite. I say surprisingly just because everybody who has one (not me) seems to love it. Seemed too boomy, and picked up weird resonances. Once again, could be a better steel string mic. Or maybe I just have strange tastes.
Please add the SP B-1 to the list when you get it.
Definitely cool.
